What is B-MAP™ ?

B-MAP™ is the new browser-based, interactive procedures manual with dynamic schematics of equipment and links to equipment information. B-MAP™ is designed to replace the standard paper or electronic version of a procedures manual. It can also serve a portal to an integrated search engine for retrieval of project documentation, operations reports, inspection reports, and other vital information.

Where can B-MAP™ be used?

Anywhere that lengthy detailed procedures with complex schematic diagrams are used. In the subsea industry, we see advantages for:

B-MAP™ Benefits

B-MAP™ is suitable for both operating and training activities. The interactive
user interface allows individuals to train and refresh their knowledge of
an operating procedure in an interesting and more meaningful way than
traditional paper or electronic documents can provide.

Each procedure displays a system schematic consisting of the mechanical
equipment, pipe, valves, and instruments used within the procedure.

When the mouse pointer hovers over a step in a procedure, the components
referenced in the step are highlighted in the schematic, drawing the
attention of the user. The actions performed by each step are simulated by
clicking on the step with a mouse. When this is done, the operated component
changes color to reflect its new state, e.g., OPEN/CLOSE, START/
STOP, and referenced information such as a tables, charts, calculation
tools, and control system information are available via customized links.

The user may click on a component in the schematic to see additional information
on the component, such as drawings, bill of materials, inspection
reports, equipment photos and videos, and other relevant information.

With the integrated search engine, keyword search allows instant access to
the entire project documentation, operations reports, or other documents.
B-MAP™ is designed to run using any HTML compliant web browser with
Adobe PDF plug-in and can be served using any TCP/IP compliant file
server.

• Easy access to many procedures using the expandable menu table of contents
• Dynamic schematic at the top that reflects the equipment status for each step
• Links to relevant references are provided to the right of each step
• Access to test models and results through the linked reference, e.g., valve leak rate calculation model can be opened from the link and results printed and saved
• Equipment information is readily available, by positioning the mouse pointer over a schematic element and clicking to display a pops up window with more information
• Hardcopy of the procedure is available through the Print function on the menu, allowing the operator to use the procedure outside the control room
• Search by keyword over all project documentation using the integrated search engine
